【中級英語文法009】強調構文と同格表現の使い方｜it is〜that／the fact that など

強調構文は文章の一部を際立たせるための表現で、同格表現は名詞を別の名詞や節で説明する形です。ビジネス英語では、プレゼンや契約文、レポートで事実を明確に示すときに重宝します。

1. 強調構文（It is/was 〜 that …）

• 形式：It is/was + 強調したい部分 + that/who + 残りの文
• 人を強調する場合は who も使える
• 動詞は時制に合わせる

例文（強調構文）

1. It was the marketing team that achieved the highest sales this quarter.
   今期最高の売上を達成したのはマーケティングチームでした。
2. It is next Monday that we will launch the new product.
   新製品を発売するのは来週の月曜日です。
3. It was John who negotiated the contract successfully.
   契約交渉を成功させたのはジョンでした。

2. 同格表現（Appositive Constructions）

例文（同格表現）

1. Our CEO, Jane Smith, will give the keynote speech.
   当社CEOのジェーン・スミスが基調講演を行います。
2. The idea that we should expand into new markets was well-received.
   新市場に進出すべきという考えは好意的に受け止められた。
3. The fact that the deadline was extended helped the team.
   締め切りが延長されたという事実は、チームにとって助けになった。

3. 強調構文 vs 同格表現の違い

4. よくある間違い

❌ It is important that he will attend.
✅ It is important that he attend / attends.
→ It is important that… の後は仮定法現在（原形）または通常の現在形

❌ It was raining that made us cancel the event.
✅ It was the rain that made us cancel the event.
→ 強調構文で強調できるのは名詞・副詞・副詞句。動詞は強調できない

5. ビジネス英語での応用

• プレゼンで成果や要因を明確に示す → It is〜that構文
• 契約書・報告書で詳細説明を追加 → 同格表現（名詞, 名詞）
• 議事録や報告メールで事実関係を明確化 → the fact that構文

まとめ

• 強調構文＝It is/was + 強調部分 + that/who + 残りの文
• 同格表現＝名詞の後に説明を追加（コンマ or that節）
• the fact that / the idea that はビジネス文書で頻出
